Our AP Art History students have been learning about Mesopotamian art and created their own votive statues inspired by the works they studied.

Mentors and mentees are off to a great start in our Academic Development Center (ADC)

Through our Peer Support Program, students are working together to strengthen organizational and study skills, build positive habits, and develop strategies for academic success. It has been great to see students connecting, collaborating, and supporting one another in the ADC.

The FHS Investment Club held its kick-off meeting this Wednesday. President and Founder Aaron Rozman invites all FHS students interested in learning more about investing and financial markets to join the club at its next meeting on Wednesday, September 23, in Room B109. All students are welcome!

One of the great ways our students keep the FHS community connected is through FlyerNews and Framingham High Studios. Each morning at 7:10 AM, students produce The Early Bird & FlyerNews, sharing school news, announcements, interviews, and features.

The program gives students hands-on experience in broadcasting, journalism, production, editing, and storytelling while keeping our community informed and connected.

Seniors in our True Crime & Detective Fiction classes have been putting their mystery-writing skills to the test with a collaborative activity called “Add a Line” Mystery Stories! 

Working in groups, students take turns adding one line at a time to build a complete mystery. Many have used real people, places, and locations from our school as inspiration, while adding clever clues, red herrings, surprising evidence, and unexpected plot twists. Who knew our school could be the setting for so many mysteries?

Video Production 2 students have begun work on their first project of the semester, creating a 30 to 45 second video sequence highlighting a part of FHS. 

Here are two students hard at work editing their projects in class. We’re excited to see their final creations!

Students in Honors Biology put their observation skills to the test with a creative activity using limes. Each group selected one lime from a set of 10, carefully described and sketched it, then exchanged their work with another group. 

Using only the written description and sketch, the other group had to identify the exact lime.

The activity gave students a hands-on look at just how important careful, detailed observations are to scientific experimentation, communication, and discovery.

Spanish 2 students are starting the year by conducting interviews during each class. These conversations give students regular opportunities to practice their speaking skills while also getting to know their classmates and building connections in the classroom.

This week, Associate Principal Sarah Mahoney met with students from each grade level for a series of assemblies focused on starting the school year strong.

Students were reminded of the many opportunities available to them at Framingham High School, along with the expectations that help create a safe, respectful, and productive school community. The assemblies also gave students a chance to hear important grade-level information and think about how they can make the most of the year ahead.

A great way to begin the year with clear expectations, shared goals, and a focus on all that FHS has to offer!

Ms. Millman and Ms. Williams are preparing to bisque-fire the first Ceramics 1 project of the semester! Students created effigy bowls in the likeness of humans or animals, drawing inspiration from pottery created by Indigenous cultures of the Americas.

We can’t wait to see how these creative pieces look after their first firing!

Ms. Osburn’s Science class spent time this week getting familiar with the classroom microscopes! Students explored a variety of slides and took a closer look at some interesting finds from the Science Curiosity Box.

A great example of hands-on learning, exploration, and scientific curiosity in action at FHS! 

On Friday, students in our Career Development course welcomed members of the U.S. Navy, including an FHS alum, who shared information about their branch, career opportunities, and their own experiences.

It was a great opportunity for students to hear firsthand about different career pathways and learn from someone who once walked the halls of FHS!
