FHS - On the Plus Side (Week Ending Oct. 9th)

On the Plus Side

...is a simple reminder of some of the positive events that happen at Framingham High School every week. #flyerpride

Exploring Human Impact on Local Ecosystems 🌎

Students in Mr. Foley’s ACP Biology class researched and presented how humans have impacted ecosystems in and around Framingham, both positively and negatively.

Topics included the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail and habitat fragmentation, Sudbury River pollution, invasive species, and geothermal heating in downtown Framingham.

A great way to connect biology concepts to issues happening right in our community!

FHS at 2nd Annual Framingham Fest! 🎉

Framingham Fest was a huge success, with hundreds of community members enjoying a beautiful, sunny Saturday together!

Our very own Fleagle crushed the Mascot Challenge, and we were proud to represent Framingham High School and Framingham Public Schools throughout the day.

A special thank you to our PTBO members for the great giveaways and for staffing the FHS table all day!

Big Win Under the Lights! 🏈

A great night for Framingham Football as the Flyers earned an impressive 41-20 victory over visiting Wellesley High School!

The energy from the crowd and the band made the night even more special. Congratulations to our players, coaches, musicians, and fans on an awesome evening.

Proud of Framingham! 💙

Sociology in Action

Students in Sociology put their learning into action by creating and playing games that represented different socialization theorists.

A creative and engaging way to explore how sociologists explain the ways people learn, grow, and interact within society.

Building History in AP Art History 🏛️

Students in AP Art History brought ancient Rome to life by using building blocks to construct Roman arches and the Colosseum.

The hands-on activity gave students a creative way to explore Roman architecture, engineering, and design while connecting directly to their course content.

Financial Literacy in Action 💰

Members of the Financial Literacy Club put their skills to the test this week by playing the Game of Life, a simulation featuring financial decisions and situations over time.

With nearly 30 students active, the club provides students with opportunities to explore real-world financial topics and build skills for their future.

Building Stronger Study Skills 📚

On Wednesday evening, 45 Honors Biology and AP Science students attended a Study Skills Night hosted by Dr. Langdon.

Students learned active study strategies, test-taking techniques, and ways to use AI as a tutor rather than an answer generator. The session provided valuable tools to help students prepare for the academic demands of high school and college.

A second session will be offered next Wednesday from 7 to 8 PM, focusing on homework and note-taking skills.

AP Environmental Science Takes Learning to the Coast 🌊

Students in AP Environmental Science traveled to Northeastern University’s Marine Science Center in Nahant for their annual field trip.

Students explored tide pools, examined aquatic animal adaptations, learned about university research, and collected plastic pollution from the beach. Back at FHS, they sorted their findings and will share their research as part of the plastic pollution art and science exhibit in January.

More details to come!

La Receta de Mi Vida 📖🍴

Our Dual Language ACP 2 Spanish students have completed La Receta de Mi Vida, their first class book featuring nearly 40 recipes and personal family stories.

The project brings together students’ growing writing skills with cultural traditions, meaningful memories, and recipes passed down through generations. It is a wonderful celebration of culture, creativity, family, and storytelling.

Congratulations to our students on an amazing finished project!

Getting Smart About Savings & Credit 💳💰

Students in Business with Personal Finance ACP have been learning about Credit Protection Laws and creating eye-catching posters to help fellow Flyers understand the importance of saving and building credit knowledge.

Their work will help FHS celebrate National Savings Day on October 12 and Get Smart About Credit Day on October 15!

Mentoring in the Academic Development Center 💪

In the Academic Development Center (ADC), mentors Annabelle Saxon and Maya Lieberman supported student mentees following a short lesson from Ms. Landau focused on identifying the qualities of effective effort and resilience.

A great example of peer support and students helping one another grow.

Students Teaching Students in Ceramics 🎨

This week, Ceramics 3 student Nicole Chipolone led her class in a potter’s wheel demonstration, sharing her skills and techniques with classmates.

Her demonstration was a great example of students learning from and inspiring one another through creativity, confidence, and collaboration.
