FHS - On the Plus Side (Week Ending Oct. 23rd)

On the Plus Side

...is a simple reminder of some of the positive events that happen at Framingham High School every week. #flyerpride

🧡 Framingham Fights Cancer Night

The Framingham Athletic Department, students, student-athletes, and coaches came together Thursday night to support our athletic trainer, Victoria, as she continues her fight against leukemia. Football players, managers, cheerleaders, and coaches wore orange to remind her that the Flyers will always have her back.

It was also a big night on the field, as the Flyers improved to 4-3 with a 50-29 win at Bowditch Field. Senior Nick Duarte led the way with 296 rushing yards and six touchdowns, while also throwing for another score.

A special night of community, strength, and Flyer pride.

🌎 Cultural Anthropology Food Expo

Ms. Campbell and Prof. Brellas hosted a Food Expo for the Framingham State Cultural Anthropology class, where students shared and presented their cultural recipe projects.

The event gave students an opportunity to explore culture, tradition, and identity through food while learning from one another’s experiences and backgrounds.

đź“– Preserving FHS History

With the help of summer interns, the FHS Library team created and organized an archive of historical photographs, books, newspapers, and other materials documenting the history of Framingham High School.

The catalog of archival materials and yearbooks is now available on the FHS Library website: https://fhs.framingham.k12.ma.us/56465_3

A great resource for exploring and preserving the history of FHS!

AP Success at FHS đź“–

Framingham High School students earned scores of 3 or higher on 86% of the 881 AP exams taken in spring 2026, the highest percentage in five years!

Students also earned 252 scores of 5, another five-year high.

Highlights include 100% earning scores of 3 or higher in Computer Science A and European History, along with 97% in U.S. History and Environmental Science. English Language and Composition, U.S. History, and Environmental

Science also posted their highest average scores in five years.

Congratulations to our students, and thank you to our AP teachers for the hard work, instruction, and support behind these outstanding accomplishments!

🔬 Exploring Careers at the STEM Career Expo

Students attended a STEM Career Expo hosted by Youth Connections at the Solomon Pond Mall, where they connected with employers and community organizations in STEM and healthcare.

Students explored internships, postsecondary education and training programs, and a variety of future career pathways.

đź’Ľ Workforce Wednesdays Continue at FHS

Students connected with The Lashary this week to learn about internship opportunities through Youth Connections and explore careers in the beauty industry.

The Lashary will return next Wednesday during lunches alongside Chick-fil-A and Framingham Parks and Recreation to share additional employment opportunities with students.

Spanish 2 Conversations in Action

Students in Spanish 2 have been practicing vocabulary and verbs connected to daily routines.

Students put their skills into action by having conversations in Spanish to find classmates who complete different daily activities. A fun way to build vocabulary, speaking skills, and confidence!

🏀 Unified Basketball Celebrates Senior Night

On Thursday, October 22, Unified Basketball honored its senior athletes and partners during the final home game against Natick.

Congratulations to four-year Unified athletes Ayman Sheikh and Armani Ramos, along with senior partners Jenna Salloway, Joseph Shaw, Jack Fabrizio, Brendan Suau, Connor Claflin, Ashton LaBrecque, and Anna Carolina Martins.

Thank you to all of our seniors for the energy, leadership, and commitment they have brought to Unified Basketball. We look forward to enjoying the final weeks of the season with them!

🎭 Seussical Rehearsals Are Underway!

The FHS Drama Company began rehearsals for Seussical this week!

Performances will run January 8-16, and tickets are on sale now at www.cur8.com.

We can’t wait to see this production come to life!

Framingham North Class of 1976 Returns Home 🎓

On Saturday more than 50 members of the Framingham North Class of 1976 returned to campus while celebrating their 50th class reunion, joining Principal Albright for a tour of the school.

For some, it was their first time back in the building, or even seeing classmates, since graduation. The visit was filled with laughs, memories, and stories as old friends reconnected and reflected on their time in Framingham.

Exploring the Properties of Water đź’§

Students in Honors Biology rotated through five hands-on stations to investigate the unique properties of water.

Activities included comparing water and soapy water drops on a penny, exploring polar and nonpolar molecules with the magic milk experiment, and creating lava lamps using oil, water, food coloring, and Alka-Seltzer.

🏗️ Exploring Careers in Architecture and Construction

On Monday, students interested in architecture and construction attended a STEM event at Suffolk Construction, where they heard from industry professionals about their careers and the future of the field.

Students also had lunch with Matteo Batista, a Framingham resident who helped construct Fuller Middle School.

A great opportunity for students to connect classroom interests with real-world career pathways!

🤟 ASL Students Explore Opportunities at Northeastern

Juniors and seniors from ASL 2 and 3 attended Northeastern University’s ASL High School Day, where they connected with students from other schools and staff from Northeastern’s ASL and Interpreting Programs.

Students participated in activities and gained a closer look at ASL-related college, career, and community opportunities throughout the region.

🎶 Calculus Gets Musical

Students in Mrs. Bigelow’s Calculus ACP class joined Mrs. Abreu’s AP Calculus AB class to sing Mrs. Bigelow’s original song, “Power, Product, Quotient and Chain,” as both classes reviewed derivatives for an upcoming unit assessment.

It was a fun example of vertical alignment across our Calculus courses and a creative way for students to reinforce important concepts together.

🧪 Testing pH in Biology

Students in Ms. Cardona’s and Mrs. Martinez’s Biology class used pH test strips to investigate a variety of unknown substances and hypothesize their identities based on the results.

A great hands-on way to connect scientific observation, evidence, and reasoning!

🌸 Still Blooming in Environmental Science

It may be getting colder outside, but flowers are still blooming in Ms. Nicodemus’ Environmental Science lab!

Students are observing a variety of plants, including sedum, bell pepper, oxalis, lobelia, slime lily, Mexican heather, and oregano, bringing a little bit of spring into the classroom.

Please Note

This is not meant to be a comprehensive list as we have so many great events happening at FHS.....each week different events, activities and groups will be highlighted.
